Fit After Little Bits

eat right..work hard..play harder

Still Winter.

Hi everyone! Happy belated Valentine’s Day…I only started this post a week ago and have just been adding pictures to it so I am sure it will be very well put together and make a ton of sense. Someday I will get all of my life things together again.

There was been some good running. My neighbor told be that I looked like the sun. I guess I will take that as a compliment. Pretty excited how the numbers have been and the paces the I have been running at-promising at altitude and on not-ideal conditions (a good amount of treadmill miles too-those are hard on the brain).

IMG_1927

Brooke and Ken made a snow cave. Not sure who was more excited.

IMG_1916

I randomly ended up at urgent care at midnight a couple of weeks ago with a lovely kidney stone. Guess I better start upping my water intake game. ha. And yes, I drove myself because I didnt want to wake Brooke up and take her. Loved Steamboat Emergency Center-great service and had the whole place to myself. 😉 Luckily it was short lived-one CT later and 4 ibuprofen later and I drove myself right back home to wait it out. Didn’t miss any workouts, so I cant complain too much. Priorities.

IMG_1903

When did she become a teenager?

IMG_1898

Ken had so much fun at camp in Tuscon-guess he was tired the day he got back!

IMG_1892

This guy has a hard time relaxing, too.

IMG_1896

It’s been a pretty snowy winter.

Brooke started Pickleball with her homeschool group. She loves it!! (Ken, another mom, an instructor and I played this past week while the kiddos had their lesson and we had a great time, too!).

IMG_1988

That look when Ken walks out the door and Jasper has to make sure he is not starting the snow blower.

IMG_1981

What I wish I was doing right now.

IMG_1974

Ken had a 50 mile fat bike race 2 weekends ago…

IMG_1959

Mark raced as well…

IMG_1961

and they ended up having to hike about 12 of those miles…he was a little tired after.

IMG_1968

At least it was pretty waiting 3 hours for him 😉

IMG_1949

Not mad about playing in the snow.

IMG_1943

Last weekend we were supposed to travel to the front range for a race (both of us) but it snowed SO much that we decided it wasnt super safe to travel (not to mention the race would be yucky) so we stayed home. It was a good call because they ended up canceling the race because of road conditions.

So we played in the snow.

IMG_2025

IMG_2014

There was a lot of snow plowing and blowing!

Wind blew a bit, too.

IMG_2003

Jasper’s winter paw fur game is strong.

IMG_2004

Brooke and I met up with her homeschool group in Dillon on Thursday night to go to the ice castles and it was awesome!

IMG_2071

IMG_2067

We have recently watched all of the Star War movies (and took Brooke to the last one in theaters-she loved it!)-hence the need for light sabers 😉

IMG_2056

IMG_2055

Ken gifted me with a day to myself-which hasnt happened since Brooke was born. ha.

I spent the day in town running, working out, hitting the slopes solo, soaking in the hot springs and wandering around town. It was incredible. He had a meeting for dinner so we me up and Brooke and I went on our own little date.

IMG_2049

And that has been life as of late!

Ken is out riding this morning and I have 14 miles to take care of today-still working out the when part. 😉

Anyone else getting excited for Spring? We have loved all the snow and skiing, but it has been a pretty gray winter and we wont be mad about some sunshine!

Hi there! How’s it going? Cranking away on all the things over here. I dont know that I have even had such a busy end of winter/beginning of spring. Whew.

Training has been in full force. Which means that I have literally wanted to eat all day/everyday. Seriously, it is a problem.

Pictured below: Pork Chop on a fork. Cant even take the time to cut it.

IMG_8701

Towards the end of February, Brooke had a home school sled day at the epic hill in town and Ken managed to sneak away for his lunch break to join us. Brooke was so excited. So was Ken.

IMG_8716

IMG_8718

I happily chatted with some other moms while Ken raced the teen boys. Living his best life.

IMG_8721

We have been getting in our fair share of ski days while the snow is good.

Brooke skied her first Black Diamond. Maybe because lunch was at the bottom of it.

IMG_8738

Tons of dinosaur play…and a tea party.

IMG_8764

Perfectly normal.

IMG_8765

She has been doing a lot of “book making” lately. Of course, they feature dinos.

IMG_8768

IMG_8771

We did some plaster of paris dog creating and then bandaging. Vet goals.

IMG_8781

She turned it into a yellow lab 😉

She looked much cuter for my dentist appt than I did 😉

IMG_8791

There has been a ton of time spent in the basement (February was sooooo snowy and cold). It is amazing that I can sweat that much in our 40 degree basement.

IMG_8793

Some Friday nights you end up on the trainer with your husband. I made sure to dress up for the occasion 😉

IMG_8809

Case in point on the snow…

IMG_8811

Neighbor dog likes to come hang out with us. A lot.

IMG_8816

IMG_8819

My little goof.

IMG_8822

More ski days. The powder was incredible in February!

IMG_8827

She is happy to ski the Blues all day!

IMG_8832

IMG_8838

Jasper is my spirit animal.

IMG_8847

The girl is a tiny engineer. Magnetic shapes are super cool!

IMG_8849

Some days getting home is quite the task. No one wants to end up in a snow bank!

IMG_8860

IMG_8886

This past weekend, we ventured down to the front range for some errands and I got to RIDE OUTSIDE ON DIRT. It was incredible. It was also the first time I got to test the legs after a couple of months of hard work. They felt good 🙂

Ken and I went out to dinner for our 10th (?!?!?!) wedding anniversary while we were down there and had a babysitter 🙂 It was nice being able to focus on talking to each other without our little sidekick (that doesnt happen, ever).

We made it home yesterday afternoon. Ken had ridden in the morning there, so I hopped on the trainer after Brooke went to bed. Back to the dungeon! ha.

Fly by February

Hey there! How’s your February been? As a huge contradiction to the January that seemed to go on FOREVER….February has absolutely flown by.  I threw pictures on here on February 11th. Clearly that went well 😉

Things have been going well. Pulled in a bunch of different directions at the moment, but trying to manage it with some form of normalcy.

Just over here making grabbers…Thanks, KiwiCo for the fun boxes that make Brooke’s day! (not sponsored-just really enjoy them!).

She moved up an age group and enjoyed the new challenge. Me too 😉

Two weekends ago, we went down to Fort Collins for a shopping trip and a bike race. Ken is building out his trailer for his new business venture so we spent a solid 3 hours at Home Depot.

But seriously, thank goodness I always bring food.

IMG_8581

On Sunday, Ken raced the Old Man Winter Rally in Lyons. It was incredibly cold at the start and I felt very lucky that Brooke and Jasper got to hang out with Errin and Colin.

While Ken was out racing, I drove up the canyon and ran 10.5 miles on the course so I got to see him twice! The first time he was with a group and then 1.5ish hours later, he and his buddy were off the front!

IMG_8592

I even made it back to the finish in time for him to roll through. He lost the sprint to his buddy (who he has been racing against for about 8 years-and who is 10 years younger than him), but he was thrilled with how the race went and excited about his fitness.

Technically, there were supposed to be timed segments but their system did not work. Had it worked, Ken would have taken the win (note: this fact was brought up my the friend that beat him). But Ken is very humble and took it in stride and was just as happy for his friend. That’s what I love about him 😉

IMG_8594

IMG_8600

We enjoyed most of last week hanging out and embracing the snowstorms. We did a TON of baking (and, er, eating).

IMG_8617

IMG_8618

My plant turned 1 year old. It is doing amazingly well and I feel like I should win some sort of prize. Normally, I kill them.

IMG_8620

Valentine’s day brownies…

IMG_8621

Brooke and I took advantage of the midweek powder day 🙂

IMG_8626

She now skis powder and trees.

IMG_8630

She was sent some sweet Valentine’s Day gifts. I think Dinosaur is her love language!

IMG_8635

My workouts have been pretty killer and this is what I looked like last Thursday BEFORE I ran. Joys of double days with skiing in the middle! ha!

IMG_8636

On Friday, we went out. I know, pick your jaw up off the floor. We are such homebodies, but we figured Brooke would enjoy the hot air balloons! It took her a bit to warm up to them, but once she did-she loved them! They were pretty awesome up close, though I have no desire to go up in one!

IMG_8649

This week has been pretty busy with work, but we have managed to fit in some fun.

IMG_8655

IMG_8680

We are actually dog and horse sitting this week for our neighbors. He looks adorable, right?

IMG_8682

He is. He is even cuter now that we are working on the whole listening thing.

Not as cute: firewood destruction.

IMG_8683

And today we ventured into the world of Papier Mache.

IMG_8694

Ken is at a fat bike race this evening. Since the predicted temp is 8 degrees, we opted out of the cheering section. 😉 We will cheer from the 75 degree house!

And there you have it! Hard to believe that February ends next week?! Say what?!
