Hi there! Happy Tuesday (I think?!)!

Just popping in to say hello 🙂 Anyone else feel like their house is a constant disaster during this whole thing? I feel like I cannot keep up with the “projects” that Brooke begin…and then there are the dishes. Let’s be honest, the dishwasher is the real hero in our house.

Thought I would just share some random things today. Basically, I am procrastinating unloading said dishwasher 😉

The other morning, I realized how much our fish, Zoom Zoom, really loves when the morning sunlight streams into his tank. He flutters all about looking gorgeous. I like to think that is how I look when the sunlight hits me in the morning. ha.

Last week (I think-seriously, the days just seem to roll together at this point), Ken got a new toy. Meet our new skid steer. I feel a lot of projects coming on 😉 It is also intended to move snow in the winter. Yes to an enclosed cabin and heater. Woohoo!

IMG_2523

The melt-off has been real this past week and that has made for some squishy runs. New look for the pants? I kinda like it.

IMG_2518

Brooke found a paint stir stick in a bag and naturally transformed it into something awesome.

IMG_2526

We have played Chutes and Ladders about 78 times. I have lost 78 of them. Apparently I am a very terrible spinner.

IMG_2530

Brooke has her heart set on a certain toy. I told her it is $90 so she made a chart to count down all the numbers until she gets there (by earning money doing chores). She did it all on her own. I counted that as math for the day 😉 (and yes, she did complete it on the back!)

IMG_2534

Legos have also become a very important tool for learning. She could play with them for hours at a time!

IMG_2543

Making sure to utilize the nice days for quality outdoor time. Her snow mound has shrunk substantially!

IMG_2560

Ken just out “doing stuff” in the skid steer (I think he just likes to drive it).

IMG_2624

Brooke got in trouble the other day. This was her apology note. Creative kid.

IMG_2623

Spring in Steamboat=WIND. Like, gnarly, gross wind. Luckily, it makes it pretty fun to fly a kite. Isn’t this how most people do it?

IMG_2613

IMG_2608

We lucked into some warm weather (50 degrees!!) last week and I never wanted to leave the dog bed after my run. So warm!

IMG_2595

She loves Prodigy. It is a math game where they have to do problems to go up in levels. Whatever works!

IMG_2593

Did some Easter Egg coloring.

IMG_2583

And played in puddles. The snowsuit and water gun clearly go well together.

IMG_2574

Pretty excited to see some grass!!!

IMG_2565

It was cold this morning (5 degrees-blah, I am ready for Spring!). Brooke didnt care. She decided to work on her golf game.

IMG_2647

She got some new clothes delivered (mega sale!) and decided it was best to pair these two pieces. You do you, kid.

IMG_2651

As far as workouts go, I have been a little unmotivated this week. Part of that is because I got in over 10 hours of biking and running last week and am tired. Part is because the weather is uninviting. And part is because my guess is the only event I am training for will most likely be cancelled. Sooooo, I am giving myself a couple of days to rest and then will hop back in. Luckily, I love to workout, so that isnt going to go anywhere, but also, I want to make sure to keep it fun. If there isn’t a specific event, I will keep mixing it up with running, riding, weights and maybe even some yoga in there!

Alright, kid is trying to drag me outside to play….she’s crazy. It’s cold.

Spring has Sprung (mostly!)

And just like that, an entire month went by! How?!

Things have changed up a bit since the last time we chatted. Ken finished up at Smartwool on 4/1 meaning that he has been around and we are still working on a schedule.

But, let’s talk about what has been going on lately, huh?
The weather has been making a conscious decision to move towards Spring. Finally! haha.

There were a good amount of rides in the cold/sun/snow/slush…but we are sooo excited to be outside! I take visibility very seriously. Best jacket ever.

Someone else is incredibly excited for warm weather! Short sleeves and a snow shovel. Perfectly normal!

I have been doing some reading. I mean, just a few 100+ mile bike races before I need it, but September will be here before you know it and I will have to RUN 50 miles!

There have been plenty of indoor projects. My tiny paleontologist.

And school. Full class as always.

IMG_9071

Seriously, the sun comes out and we just cant get enough!

IMG_9077

The Great Melt started….

IMG_9086

Put on real clothes a couple times. Most of the time I am in a uniform of Bike/Run/Yoga clothes. Brooke is always baffled when I have something else on.

IMG_9098

Brooke thought that Jasper needed to be pampered outside.

IMG_9113

Snow levels decreasing….

Early Easter Egg Hunt

IMG_9133

Kept skiing!! Brooke and I ended up with 20 ski days this year! She is going to crush me next year.

IMG_9149

Haven’t been running much the last month because I have been riding a LOT in preparation for May 5th’s 140ish mile bike race. We made a quick trip to Fort Collins so I could get in 100 miles with Errin!

IMG_9170

Last ski day goodness!!

IMG_9194

This girl and her hair!

IMG_9211

She is getting very proficient at the puzzle game.

IMG_9214

The mud showed up and you couldnt get her to come inside. She loves it so much!

IMG_9215

Her style. I kind of love it.

IMG_9222

Had a wonderful Easter!

Current state of the yard! Dirt>Snow!! Spring is here!!!

IMG_9237

Yes, there have been many other happenings…lots of grading, media work and race meetings, Ken’s dad helping him build out his new work trailer….so many things!

We are very excited for all the happenings this year and cant wait to share with you…I just need to make myself sit down and type it out (instead of passing out at 9:30….or 8:30!).

Hope Spring has shown up where you live and you are enjoying some great weather and lots of time outside!!

Running, Gravel riding and a Trip to the Dentist. (with a side of weird weather)

Howdy, friends! How’s it going! Playing a little catch up over here after the weekend. It was spring-ish over here and I loved every minute. And then winter came back.

I did not take many pictures over the weekend…sign of a good weekend?

On Saturday, I headed out after breakfast for an 8 mile run (taper time!!). It felt surprisingly good and I finished with an 8:21 average pace. Once I made it home, it was time for some grub before sending Ken out on a 3 hour tour…I mean, ride. Brooke and I jumped on the quad and headed out to meet him for the last 30 minutes of his loop in case he needed any food or water.  Finished the evening out in the hot tub and everyone was happy.

Sunday started out with some bike race watching and latte drinking. It was nice to relax a bit and enjoy each other. Ken had planned to ride with a group, but since he had 4 hours of base riding to do (and the group NEVER does base) he opted to go solo.

Brooke and I headed to the pool and then the park and met him as he finished. We did a kiddo sway and I got out for a 3 mile run. I never run on pavement and since the half marathon is on the road, we thought I should pound some cement. I wasnt planning on going too fast, but I did my 3 miles at an 8:05 pace. Oops.

Since we were in town, I had brought my bike so that I could home. Ever the many-taskers.

It was an hour and a half (and 22 miles) of glorious gravel roads. Turns out that I have done very little outside riding and I was pretty tired when I got home!

IMG_5523

But the views though!!

IMG_5524

Hi, Hahns Peak!

IMG_5525

Another evening in the hot tub and some muscle work on Ken’s legs and then we called it a night!

Monday was filled with all the chores….and a trip to the dentist.

This girl LOVES the dentist. Maybe that is because she has like zero plaque, no cavities and gets to pick a toy. Gonna call that a win!
IMG_5528

IMG_5530

Yesterday looked like this…

IMG_5531

We took the pup out for a walk (Brooke ran the whole time). It was a bit windy, but plenty warm!

IMG_5532

And then today looked like this…

IMG_5535IMG_5536

Quite the difference, huh? Spring in the mountains.

Because I am crazy, I took advantage of the crummy weather and switched out my winter clothes for spring/summer clothes. Yep…I just ensured 6 more weeks of winter. Sorry!

Ken and I have plans to ride the trainers after Brooke goes to bed tonight (since the wind kept us up and we were too tired this morning!).

Brooke and I have plans for her to play with horses tomorrow morning….should be fun!!
