And just like that, it is March! How is it possible that January took about 6 months and February went by in the blink of an eye…and there was even an extra day?! 😉
Things over here have been pretty usual, but getting excited for things to ramp up with Spring headed our way (fingers crossed!) haha.
With Brooke getting older, we have a lot more “things to do” each week that require trips to town. She has been having a blast with her buddies playing pickleball, is really into swimming and has been taking lessons to prepare for swim team tryouts next week (we are not committed yet, but want to see what she thinks of the competitive environment) and of course, enjoying the ski slopes!
There has been a good amount of cycling for Ken as he ramps up for gravel racing season and running for me as I get ready to race in one month! Ahhh. Only slightly nervous about that 😉 Luckily, training has been going well and that is motivating.
Last month, I read a book. That sounds terrible. I love, love, love reading but somehow life just doesn’t seem to allow for the time right now. I know a lot of people keep them by their bed and read before going to sleep, but most of my nights include grading and working until it is time to crash on my pillow. I am also not very good at having a book around and being able to walk away from it-especially if it is good!
I happened to pick this up and I really couldn’t put it down. Like, finished it in 3 days. I have a problem. It was really, really fun to read. Sometimes we need a bit of a comedic escape, am I right? If you are looking for easy reading (that maybe hits a bit too close to community home in some ways-hello yoga pants, I’m looking at you)…this was awesome.
We had some pretty fantastic snow in February and spent a good amount of time playing in it!
On a trip to Costco, Ken found this and it was maybe the best day of his life. Cookie dough that you can eat raw without the fear of food poisoning?! It was gone way too fast.
We spent a weekend in Fort Collins so Ken could get in 3 days of long (warmish/dryish) rides. I got in 2 good runs and a 53 mile ride with Errin and Colin. Chased the ride with 18 miles of running the next day. Always a good time 😉
Pretty happy with these splits-followed with 8 miles of easy running after.
Brooke decided she wanted to get crafty-ignore the tomato soup on her face from lunch 😉
That little deer…
Overall, we have had a pretty gloomy winter. A lot of days that were gray, even if it didn’t snow. We have had a couple of gorgeous, bluebird days in the last 2 weeks and it is making my heart happy. I need some sunshine!
Chased by more skiing!
Today was an exciting day. Brooke got her first salon hair cut (typically I just cut it at home). Since I was getting mine cut, I thought it would be fun for her to have a neat experience. She was excited (and a little nervous) and ended up having the best time!
The whole thing was great and I am pretty sure she has been going out of her way to find mirrors!
She might have come home and put on her full face helmet to play on her snow mobile before I could grab a picture, but it did pretty well 😉
I got about 3 inches of mine cut off and somehow it was the first time I had it cut in Steamboat?! Dont worry, she left it long enough to go into a ponytail- #priorities.
And that’s where we are at! While we love the snow and all the fun things to do in it, I have to admit-I am looking forward to seeing a color other than white. It has been a long winter after a short summer…bring on the green.
Hope you are having a great start to March! Is it “Spring-ish” where you are or do you still have snow covered everything?
