Quick Trip and Training

Hey there! How’s it going? Having a good start to 2019? Just doing the normal things over here (with a quick trip for a mini-training camp in California). It has been a big couple of workout weeks over here (read: 10+ training hours 2 weeks in a row) so I am enjoying a more restful, recovery week right now!

Some random phone images? Dont mind if I do….

My sister gave this Alpaca to Jasper for Christmas. He LOVES the thing. He carries it all over the house and bathes it often.

We have been getting a little snow this Winter….the Resort has 17 inches in the forecast!

Last Wednesday, we picked up Ken’s business partners/teammates and headed for Southern California. There were 5 of us (plus Jasper) in the F-250 for the 14 hour trip!?

Somehow, it worked.

A little different landscape.

We got there Wednesday evening and hung out a bit before calling it a night.

Thursday morning, we hopped on bikes and headed for the hills. I had gravel tires on my bike while the others were rolling on slicks, so it was extra work for me. I did 35 miles in about 2.5 hours while the rest of the crazies got in 70+ miles for the day!

When you forget your swimsuit, but luckily your Mom wears the same size and has extras 😉

After a quick dip, my Mom, Brooke and I headed out the door for the Zoo. Brooke was so excited!!

By the time we got home, the others had loaded up and headed for the coast (they did 3 days of riding around Malibu while B and I stayed in the Valley).

Friday morning I got in a 7.5 mile trail run. It was awesome…there was so much oxygen in the air!

We had some appointments and errands to run afterwards. We stopped by Disney to do a little shopping and Brooke made friends with a squirrel. It was seriously out of a movie. It followed her around and came when she called. Crazy!

Meanwhile, the other 3 played in the mountains.

Just modeling her new Jasmine outfit…

I ventured out for a 1.5 hour ride around the area before making it home in time to hop in the pool with Brooke. Girl loves her some water!

My brother, sis-in-law and their kiddos came over for dinner and they all had a blast!

Saturday was really rainy. Brooke didnt mind at all!

I went out for a 10 mile run (8:10 pace) and got poured on! I was in a tank and shorts (with a long sleeve tied around my waist). People looked at me like I was nutty. But hey, it was like 50 degrees!!

The weather took a turn for the better and we were able to get the pups out for a hike in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, again, the others enjoyed some views as well.

Sunday started out with a 2 hour ride for me. Made it to the top of the mountain and the views did not disappoint!

We were also able to sneak in another quick hike!

Post-hike, we packed up and the other 3 picked us up to start our trip home! We made it to Vegas and hit up the RIO’s buffet. It was divine. Brooke was a little overwhelmed by the amount of food.

After a quick sleep, we were up at 4:45 to continue our trek home. Made it back to the Boat in time for dinner!

Did some town things on Tuesday, but Brooke and I have spent a good amount of the last two days catching up on school and work. Not to mention clearing snow!

img_8359

Took Monday and Tuesday as complete rest days.

Wednesday- Rode the trainer for 45 minutes

Thursday-Rode the trainer for 60 minutes plus ran 4 easy snow miles.

A lot of double days on the horizon for me and then I will switch to primarily cycling in March. I actually signed up for my friend Amy’s indoor cycling class for the month of February (so every Tues/Thurs morning I will be in town). Looking forward to some hard training and hard recovering….if only I could learn to nap!

Hope everything is going well!!
