Running, Gravel riding and a Trip to the Dentist. (with a side of weird weather)

Howdy, friends! How’s it going! Playing a little catch up over here after the weekend. It was spring-ish over here and I loved every minute. And then winter came back.

I did not take many pictures over the weekend…sign of a good weekend?

On Saturday, I headed out after breakfast for an 8 mile run (taper time!!). It felt surprisingly good and I finished with an 8:21 average pace. Once I made it home, it was time for some grub before sending Ken out on a 3 hour tour…I mean, ride. Brooke and I jumped on the quad and headed out to meet him for the last 30 minutes of his loop in case he needed any food or water.  Finished the evening out in the hot tub and everyone was happy.

Sunday started out with some bike race watching and latte drinking. It was nice to relax a bit and enjoy each other. Ken had planned to ride with a group, but since he had 4 hours of base riding to do (and the group NEVER does base) he opted to go solo.

Brooke and I headed to the pool and then the park and met him as he finished. We did a kiddo sway and I got out for a 3 mile run. I never run on pavement and since the half marathon is on the road, we thought I should pound some cement. I wasnt planning on going too fast, but I did my 3 miles at an 8:05 pace. Oops.

Since we were in town, I had brought my bike so that I could home. Ever the many-taskers.

It was an hour and a half (and 22 miles) of glorious gravel roads. Turns out that I have done very little outside riding and I was pretty tired when I got home!

But the views though!!

Hi, Hahns Peak!

Another evening in the hot tub and some muscle work on Ken’s legs and then we called it a night!

Monday was filled with all the chores….and a trip to the dentist.

This girl LOVES the dentist. Maybe that is because she has like zero plaque, no cavities and gets to pick a toy. Gonna call that a win!

Yesterday looked like this…

We took the pup out for a walk (Brooke ran the whole time). It was a bit windy, but plenty warm!

And then today looked like this…

Quite the difference, huh? Spring in the mountains.

Because I am crazy, I took advantage of the crummy weather and switched out my winter clothes for spring/summer clothes. Yep…I just ensured 6 more weeks of winter. Sorry!

Ken and I have plans to ride the trainers after Brooke goes to bed tonight (since the wind kept us up and we were too tired this morning!).

Brooke and I have plans for her to play with horses tomorrow morning….should be fun!!

Sunrises, More Dentists and Plan Changes

Howdy, folks! How is it hanging this morning? We are rocking a low key morning over here.

Yesterday, we had a gorgeous sunrise. I am not a fan of having it be dark when we get up, but sights like these make it a little more worthwhile.

I was supposed to have a dentist appt at 12, but they called to see if I could change it to 11. A quick change of plans had us heading into town for a dip in the pool before the visit.

After a quick swim, we headed to the dentist. This girl was so well behaved. Numb faced dentist selfies. Perfectly normal.

With no feeling in the right side of my face (everything went great and was super quick), we thought it would be a good plan to go grocery shopping and run some errands. I am sure that all of the people we saw were impressed with my half-smile.

Got home and built a blanket fort. Brooke’s hair was on point!

I headed to the basement for an hour trainer workout. Two by 10 minute intervals just around threshold. It was an absolute sweat fest..

Sexy, I know!

Afternoon fire, because the dog wanted one.

B started to feel kind of yucky in the evening so it was an early night (Ken and I ventured to the hot tub for a bit!). Some quality hang out time with Brooke between 2:20 and 4 this morning has me feeling beat today!  She still doesn’t feel great, but she is play doughing it pretty hard right now 😉 Hoping it is a quick thing! Unfortunately, I had to steal some of her juice during lunch yesterday (due to an extremely hot pepper incident), so I am in the waiting stage to see if I end up with the ickiness. Boo to that!

Sounds like our weekend race plans may be Ken-sided this weekend. I am only slightly devastated 😦 I wonder if I can get him to go to Trader Joes….hmmmm. Here is to seeing what the day holds…

A Photo Shoot, Swim Lesson, Trip to the Park, Long Walk and the (dun dun dun) Dentist!

Fri_YAY!!!!! It’s finally here!!! Woohoo!!! Here’s to prepping for the weekend 🙂

But first…yesterday!

Thursday was a BUSY day. I am pretty sure that I am still exhausted from our endeavors.

To begin the day, I headed to the basement for a super easy ride. I was down there by about 7:45 because I knew that it would be the only time I had during the day to make it happen. It was a nice and short 45 minute spin (that or nothing!).

Always good when your battery starts getting low. Now, if only I could actually remember to change that today!

As soon as I was done with my spin, it was a whirlwind of getting dressed, getting Brooke dressed and her hair done and then getting all of our stuff together before setting out for the day. I knew it was going to be a long one and we had a lot of different things to pack for!

We left the house around 9:30 and headed to one of our favorite trails just outside of town. Fall photo shoots are just the best and even though the snow last weekend did a number on our trees up here, it was still pretty. Brooke enjoyed playing in the leaves and creek and I took about 280 pictures in the hopes of having about 10 that are awesome 😉 Thank GOODNESS for digital!

Sneak peek!!

From our photo shoot, we headed straight to the pool for Brooke’s last swim lesson of the session. Getting changed is always exciting.

As is figuring out which sunscreen still has something left in it. Clearly it is the end of the summer.

For some reason, none of the other kids were at the lesson today, so Brooke had her own one-on-one session! No complaints about that! I enjoyed a half mile warm up on the treadmill and then some solid arm/back/core work.

After jumping in the pool with B for about 20 minutes, we were both starving and headed to Natural Grocers for a couple things and a sandwich to split. Since we were killing some time, we visited the park for a while for Brooke to climb around.

Rough view

Pretty excited about the 70 degree tank top weather.

After a quick stop at Wal to the Mart, we went to see if we could rent skis for the season yet. Turns out we have to wait until after the 13th. No problem! Brooke found a pile of leaves and HAD to jump in it.

We had about an hour until my dentist appointment, so I convinced Brooke that we needed to go for a walk to the “boardwalk”. I thought it was about 10 minutes away…it may have been a bit longer. She wasn’t impressed and I ended up carrying her all the way back. It was some quality cuddle time, but my arms were TIRED when we got back!

Man, this place we call home is AWESOME!

Dramatic much?

We eventually made it back and walked over to the dentist’s office. They had thought it would take 1-1.5 hours, but apparently, I am an easy fix and they were done in 40 minutes! Brooke was spectacular. We really had no idea that she was even in the room. We took at game and they had a Mr. Potato Head and the girl was set. Everyone commented on how great she was. Proud Mommy.

Dont mind me….just cant feel my face. Ugh.

Any day that Brooke has a package in the mail box is a good day in her book. Thanks, Alle for the sweet books. We read about the puppy last night 😉

Ken got out for a ride when he got home while I made dinner and B took a bath. Then it was time for some eating, some teeth brushing and hitting the pillow! Girl was OUT.

Pretty excited for a quieter day today. Have to find some time to ride (Ken switched my bike to single speed, so no trainer and no trailer). Better get creative!

I hope you have a wonderful day. Just think….tomorrow is Saturday….tomorrow is Saturday….. 😉
