Fit After Little Bits

Christmas and New Year’s, etc.

Howdy and Happy 2019! Dont ask me where the last 2 months of 2018 went, I have no idea. But hey, happy to ring in a new year that promises many exciting things!!

Let’s rewind a little bit and do a little photo drop…aka all the pictures on my phone that I randomly find and feel the need to share πŸ˜‰ Isn’t that how you keep track of your life?

Some pre-Christmas fun. Brooke thought that she and Jasper could dress up like little chefs. They were adorable.Β

Brooke’s Tiger got all dressed up…for something??

My sister (Alle) and my brother-in-law (David) joined us for Christmas. They made the 19 (?!?!!) hour drive from Portland to be with us. They brought their Drahthaar, Elsa (center) and their friends’ Vizsla, Ben (right) along to visit as well! It was AMAZING and we all had tons of fun!
Brooke’s paradise πŸ˜‰
Brooke made sure to take excellent care of Elsa.
Ben is 3 and a ball of energy. He is very excited about balls and will stare at you until you throw it! I took him out for 5 miles and he was happy to cuddle πŸ™‚
Got our ski on!
And hit up the hot tub! Not to mention some snow mobiling and epic sledding!

Christmas was super fun. Jasper LOVES presents.

So does Brooke. Alle set up an amazing scavenger hunt for her and we were done before the sun came up. Kids. She had a BLAST following all the clues!
Our tree was perfect.
Always food on her face!
Alle and David actually left on Christmas Day, so we spent the next day (my birthday) doing a bit of skiing and making a trip to Costco.
On the 27th, I hopped on a plane and after countless delays, canceled flights and unplanned rental cars with midnight drives, I made it to Cincinnati. We spent Friday saying goodbye to my amazing Grandma, Lois. Luckily, since shopping and fashion are not really my thing, Alle had a dress all set for me when I got there! Alle and I gave the Eulogy at the Church and it was amazing to see a lot of the family that I had not seen in a while. (sleep deprived eyes)
Saturday was spent eating. And hopping on the treadmill for 6 miles…because…eating.Β
Literally had 6 scoops of Graeters’ ice cream in 2 days. Still working that off πŸ˜‰ And maybe the 7 pieces of pizza on Friday night.
My flight on Sunday had me up at 6 and at the airport by 6:45 am. The airport was busy but I had plenty of time to grab the necessary caffeine before the flight took off.Β

After some delays, I finally made it home in time to hot tub and hang with the family!

New Year’s Eve was pretty low key and I fell asleep on the couch at 8:15. Ha.

On New Year’s Day, it was COLD. Like a high of 8 degrees cold. Ken and I rode the trainers for an hour (Ken did 1.5 hours). Then, I crazily threw on my running shoes and did 4 miles outside in the spongy snow (in 4 degrees). I was pretty tired after that!

We headed to a party and Brooke was thrilled to sled with some older girls.Β

This morning, it was -20 at our house (Ken saw -32 degrees on the drive to work). Jasper found the best place in the house. πŸ˜‰ Ken and I did an hour on the trainers and then I got in a 4 mile COLD run outside followed by weights. Is it bedtime yet??

And that has been the end to a year and the start of a new one! So many exciting things to come.

I hope you had an amazing Christmas and New Year celebration. Bring on 2019!

Christmas time catch up

Oh, hey there! How’s it going? How was your Christmas?? I went off the radar for a bit and simply enjoyed being in the moment. It was pretty great πŸ˜‰ But, I’m back! And I thought I would just share some highlights with you….

My parents made the decision to make a quick trip to visit for the few days before Christmas. They lucked out in the fact that we got a little snow….and by little, I mean little. Someone, please send snow!!

Brooke wasn’t mad about it…

Jasper was concerned that Brooke was stuck in a hole, so he tried to dig her out. The sweetest.

The parents left on Christmas eve after a few days of play. I think they will be back πŸ˜‰

Christmas morning started bright and early as Brooke showed up in our room just after 5. Thanks, B.

Please note that it is pitch black outside!

My sister sent Jasper the coolest jacket ever! He was waiting for the snow blower to come out πŸ˜‰

Not sure about the face, but this girl loved every moment of opening her gifts.

When the sun came up (kinda?) we saw some glorious snow outside (over a foot!!).

Had to dive into all the toys.

Just searching for dino bones.

We spent most of the day playing outside in the fresh powder…Brooke skied in the yard and there were plenty of snow angels made.

The next day was my birthday. Thirty-five…how did that happen?

I ran 3.5 miles to celebrate.

Brooke pretended that she was a teenager and hid from me.

We ventured into town to wander around for a bit and grab some dinner. It was delicious!!

Picked up a new book. Amy is super sweet and I am loving her book.

The following day, we headed in to visit the Optometrist before the end of the year….new sunglasses coming our way!

My lovely husband got me a new camera for my birthday…something about my grainy blog pics…I’m figuring out how to use it πŸ˜‰

Friday saw 2 miles of easy treadmill running before we headed into town for an errand, a hike, a trip to the pool and dinner at our fave Mexican restaurant.

My new sunglasses (courtesy of my sister over at Projects and Puns). They make me feel cooler than I actually am!

Always wants to be the leader.

Fish Creek Falls was amazing…though it could use a bit more snow πŸ˜‰ Brooke hiked most of a 3 mile hike and did better than I did on the packed snow trail!

Snowball fight!

The dog was sure he won the day.

Today included lots of chores, a 5 mile run and a 5 mile cross country ski with Ken!! (Thanks to our neighbors for hanging out with Brooke!)

Ken went out with some buddies tonight so Brooke and I hung out.

17,000 steps…perfectly normal!

Playing unicorns…also perfectly normal!

And those are the highlights!! Hope you have had an incredible holiday season. I am in denial that real life begins again on Tuesday…hanging on to the last 2 days!!

Friday Faves

Hi there and Happy Friday!! Fun weekend plans? The husband and I have a sweet date night of Chinese take-out and a movie on our schedule. I cant wait!!

Thought I would pop in for a few Friday Faves before hopping on the trainer!

Christmas coffee mugs

My Mother-in-Law surprised us with these last weekend. The are Starbucks mugs and just too cute. I have been drinking out of it all week and it just makes things feel extra festive!

Paw Patrol Advent CalendarΒ

This thing and I already have a love/hate relationship. It is stinking adorable and Brooke gets to open up a new little toy each day (instead of candy!). Thanks, Mimi! This morning she opened up a super cute little polar bear. The downside….she woke up at 3:40 this morning trying to convince me that it was time to open it. Ha. Thanks, Brooke!

Christmas Decorations

I love having the stockings and lights and other decorations up! Cannot wait to go get the tree this weekend. Brooke has already been plotting where each ornament goes. Starting to feel like Christmas over here!

After yesterday’s run in shorts, we are pretty excited to see some snowflakes today!! It was not really in the forecast-such is mountain life….but we will take it. Nothing is really sticking, but we are happy with whatever we can get right now!

Tiny Tree

Nene also picked this little guy up for Brooke and gave it to her last weekend. Brooke loves the little tree and feels like it is just her size. She has been decorating it over and over in order to practice for the big tree. She is pretty much a pro by now.

Painting Time

Brooke and I spent some quality time with watercolors yesterday. Love the Crayola sheets of paper with the characters. They are HUGE and make things less intricate. Can you guess which is mine? We have about the same painting skills.

Training Plan Writing!

My sister is doing the LA Marathon in March and has allowed me to write out a plan for her! I did Coaching Certification the summer and am excited to put it to use! Interesting process and cant wait to see what happens with it!!

Alright….that’s about it for today. Hanging out and waiting on the weekend!! Bring on the snow….

Now time to find some spandex and get on the bike!
