End of a Decade

Well, hello 2020 and Happy New Year!

Yes, I vanished for the end of 2019. Things were busy and life happened and trying to find balance was a challenge. But, I’m here and have a ton of pics that will represent the last few months of the decade!

Halloween happened. It was cold. But how cute is she? She kind of reminds me of a character out of Game of Thrones, but hey, best to be warm!

IMG_1280

Did some good coloring. Thanks, Alle for the PNW coloring book-I love it, too 😉

IMG_1304

Ken’s hair got a bit out of control (he will probably kill me for putting this on here-but come on…that’s impressive!).

IMG_1324

My little rancher child.

IMG_1336

And then she turns back into a princess 😉

IMG_1328

We skied opening day (before Thanksgiving!!)

IMG_1360

IMG_1363

Have had some awesome home school field trips-learned all about screen printing!

IMG_1477

IMG_1483

Made bath bombs!

IMG_1399

We traveled down to Fort Collins for Thanksgiving. The cats were a big help with dinner 😉

IMG_1424

Brooke’s one Black Friday purchase…

IMG_1431

Came home to some snow…

IMG_1437

And recovered with some mega naps.

IMG_1536

Brooke convinced me we should go skating. She did great!

IMG_1540

We have spent some good time on the mountain! I really need one of these helmet covers. Brooke’s is sooooo cozy!

IMG_1525

IMG_1518

The new gondola is awesome!

IMG_1521

She stole my headband and it looks way cuter on her 😉

IMG_1589

More naps.

IMG_1580

And loving the fire.IMG_1569

We are using Daisy the Dino to gauge the snow in the yard. Spoiler alert: there is not a lot left showing!

IMG_1559

We had an incredible Christmas. Brooke got her first snowmobile. She is already so good on it! Like, stands and leans in corners. Apparently she got her dad’s athletic ability.

IMG_1617

IMG_1620

I cant.

IMG_1564

Road trips are fun when you have your best bud!

IMG_1510

Walked outside to find her like this. Yep, Ken’s kid.

IMG_1458

We loved having Alle and David here for Christmas!

IMG_1667

Jasper and Penny. Just being Vizslas.

IMG_1660

Brooke was an angel in the Church Christmas musical. It was adorable!

IMG_1643

Made Brooke famous in the SBT GRVL social media Christmas post. Cutest little Rudolf!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! (1)

Legos!

IMG_1654

Tiny Magician!

IMG_1676

She wanted this giant tiger soooo bad!

IMG_1657

Best cross country ski buddies!

IMG_1638

And then on my birthday, Brooke fell asleep at the table. Before dinner. I guess we had a good time!

IMG_1673

And that’s how our year ended! There was a good amount of running involved as I head into my April race, but riding has been pretty limited. Finally jumping back into more of a routine and will be excited to share more on that later 🙂

I hope that the end of your 2019 was awesome and that you have an incredible 2020!

Christmas and New Year’s, etc.

Howdy and Happy 2019! Dont ask me where the last 2 months of 2018 went, I have no idea. But hey, happy to ring in a new year that promises many exciting things!!

Let’s rewind a little bit and do a little photo drop…aka all the pictures on my phone that I randomly find and feel the need to share 😉 Isn’t that how you keep track of your life?

Some pre-Christmas fun. Brooke thought that she and Jasper could dress up like little chefs. They were adorable.

IMG_7934

Brooke’s Tiger got all dressed up…for something??

IMG_7948
My sister (Alle) and my brother-in-law (David) joined us for Christmas. They made the 19 (?!?!!) hour drive from Portland to be with us. They brought their Drahthaar, Elsa (center) and their friends’ Vizsla, Ben (right) along to visit as well! It was AMAZING and we all had tons of fun!
IMG_7960
Brooke’s paradise 😉
IMG_7962
Brooke made sure to take excellent care of Elsa.
IMG_7966
Ben is 3 and a ball of energy. He is very excited about balls and will stare at you until you throw it! I took him out for 5 miles and he was happy to cuddle 🙂
IMG_7973
BAAAAALLLLLLL
IMG_7976
Got our ski on!
IMG_7980
And hit up the hot tub! Not to mention some snow mobiling and epic sledding!
IMG_8060

Christmas was super fun. Jasper LOVES presents.

IMG_1548
So does Brooke. Alle set up an amazing scavenger hunt for her and we were done before the sun came up. Kids. She had a BLAST following all the clues!
IMG_1563IMG_1576IMG_1612
Excavating!
IMG_8071
Our tree was perfect.
IMG_8090
Always food on her face!
IMG_8106
Alle and David actually left on Christmas Day, so we spent the next day (my birthday) doing a bit of skiing and making a trip to Costco.

On the 27th, I hopped on a plane and after countless delays, canceled flights and unplanned rental cars with midnight drives, I made it to Cincinnati. We spent Friday saying goodbye to my amazing Grandma, Lois. Luckily, since shopping and fashion are not really my thing, Alle had a dress all set for me when I got there! Alle and I gave the Eulogy at the Church and it was amazing to see a lot of the family that I had not seen in a while. (sleep deprived eyes)
IMG_8134
Saturday was spent eating. And hopping on the treadmill for 6 miles…because…eating.

Literally had 6 scoops of Graeters’ ice cream in 2 days. Still working that off 😉 And maybe the 7 pieces of pizza on Friday night.
IMG_8149
My flight on Sunday had me up at 6 and at the airport by 6:45 am. The airport was busy but I had plenty of time to grab the necessary caffeine before the flight took off.

IMG_8154

After some delays, I finally made it home in time to hot tub and hang with the family!

New Year’s Eve was pretty low key and I fell asleep on the couch at 8:15. Ha.

On New Year’s Day, it was COLD. Like a high of 8 degrees cold. Ken and I rode the trainers for an hour (Ken did 1.5 hours). Then, I crazily threw on my running shoes and did 4 miles outside in the spongy snow (in 4 degrees). I was pretty tired after that!

We headed to a party and Brooke was thrilled to sled with some older girls.

IMG_8169
This morning, it was -20 at our house (Ken saw -32 degrees on the drive to work). Jasper found the best place in the house. 😉 Ken and I did an hour on the trainers and then I got in a 4 mile COLD run outside followed by weights. Is it bedtime yet??
IMG_8179

And that has been the end to a year and the start of a new one! So many exciting things to come.

I hope you had an amazing Christmas and New Year celebration. Bring on 2019!

Christmas time catch up

Oh, hey there! How’s it going? How was your Christmas?? I went off the radar for a bit and simply enjoyed being in the moment. It was pretty great 😉 But, I’m back! And I thought I would just share some highlights with you….

My parents made the decision to make a quick trip to visit for the few days before Christmas. They lucked out in the fact that we got a little snow….and by little, I mean little. Someone, please send snow!!

Brooke wasn’t mad about it…

IMG_4388

Jasper was concerned that Brooke was stuck in a hole, so he tried to dig her out. The sweetest.

IMG_4392

The parents left on Christmas eve after a few days of play. I think they will be back 😉

Christmas morning started bright and early as Brooke showed up in our room just after 5. Thanks, B.

Please note that it is pitch black outside!

IMG_4400

My sister sent Jasper the coolest jacket ever! He was waiting for the snow blower to come out 😉

IMG_4404

Not sure about the face, but this girl loved every moment of opening her gifts.

IMG_4411

IMG_4420

When the sun came up (kinda?) we saw some glorious snow outside (over a foot!!).

IMG_4421

Had to dive into all the toys.

IMG_4424

Just searching for dino bones.

IMG_4431

We spent most of the day playing outside in the fresh powder…Brooke skied in the yard and there were plenty of snow angels made.

The next day was my birthday. Thirty-five…how did that happen?

IMG_0023

I ran 3.5 miles to celebrate.

IMG_0015

Brooke pretended that she was a teenager and hid from me.

IMG_0018

We ventured into town to wander around for a bit and grab some dinner. It was delicious!!

IMG_4466

Picked up a new book. Amy is super sweet and I am loving her book.

IMG_4472

The following day, we headed in to visit the Optometrist before the end of the year….new sunglasses coming our way!

IMG_0029

My lovely husband got me a new camera for my birthday…something about my grainy blog pics…I’m figuring out how to use it 😉

IMG_0030

IMG_0031

Friday saw 2 miles of easy treadmill running before we headed into town for an errand, a hike, a trip to the pool and dinner at our fave Mexican restaurant.

IMG_0033

My new sunglasses (courtesy of my sister over at Projects and Puns). They make me feel cooler than I actually am!

IMG_0034

Always wants to be the leader.

IMG_0039

IMG_4474

IMG_0043

Fish Creek Falls was amazing…though it could use a bit more snow 😉 Brooke hiked most of a 3 mile hike and did better than I did on the packed snow trail!

Squirrel!

IMG_0046

IMG_0053

Snowball fight!

IMG_0057

IMG_0060

IMG_0064

IMG_0066

The dog was sure he won the day.

IMG_0069

Today included lots of chores, a 5 mile run and a 5 mile cross country ski with Ken!! (Thanks to our neighbors for hanging out with Brooke!)

Ken went out with some buddies tonight so Brooke and I hung out.

17,000 steps…perfectly normal!

IMG_4485

Playing unicorns…also perfectly normal!

IMG_4487

And those are the highlights!! Hope you have had an incredible holiday season. I am in denial that real life begins again on Tuesday…hanging on to the last 2 days!!
