The Missing Month

Oh, hey. A whole month blew by. Wow.

Here are a few {million} pictures from the past month-ish…I will try to nail the highlights. Things have been busy. Really busy. Need a vacation, busy.

But enough of that…In {mostly} chronological order…

IMG_9515

Ken jumped into a mountain bike race in Denver. Mountain bike nationals happen to be about 1.5 hours from our house this summer so Ken hopped into a qualifying race in case he wants to race later this month. He did okay.

IMG_9543

It snowed. {Spoiler alert…It snowed a LOT this spring/summer}.

IMG_9559

Brooke is quite the artist. One night she brought this to me. I couldn’t even come close to this!

IMG_9575

More snow.

IMG_9627

We ventured to Sheridan, Wyoming for a gravel bike race/camping trip. Normal camp essentials: Giant bear and lite beer.

IMG_9635

This girl was ripping around on her bike!

IMG_9637

It was a 100 mile race and I could bore you with details, but…. I actually raced it and had a blast. Ended up 4th overall for women and 2nd in my age group. It was a rush! Finished 100 miles in under 6 hours.

Ken raced really strong and due to some tactics ended up second overall, but with a killer workout!

IMG_9643

That camp life.

IMG_9645

IMG_9651

We spent a couple of days camping with my parents-in-law and had a blast. This kid loves to camp (so does the creepy photo-bomber dog).

Got in a 7 mile run. It was GORGEOUS!

IMG_9654

When we got home, Brooke decided she didnt want to deal with the struggles of long hair tangles for the rest of the summer, so we chopped her locks. I miss the long a little, but we are loving the low maintenance style!

IMG_9667

IMG_9668

Got in a few good rides.

IMG_9700

Yanked out a baby tooth (her big tooth was coming in and the dentist was going to pull it, so we bribed Brooke with a toy instead of paying the dentist to do it and she let me pull it out).

IMG_9704

As much golf as possible.

IMG_9710

Some railing building.

IMG_9715

We celebrated this girl turning 6. How it happened, I dont know.

IMG_9732

IMG_9737

For real mountain bike!

IMG_9753

Her own paddle board (maybe, spoiled.)

IMG_9761

IMG_9767IMG_9768

Has yet to sleep without her giant dino!

IMG_9772

(Yes, on her birthday we started with paddle boarding and finished with golf-her request).

IMG_9779

Put together our porch swing!!

IMG_9790

The rivers are raging!

IMG_9798

Brooke got a dino taco holder for her birthday (thanks, Alle) so she has been requesting them.

IMG_9813

More railing building.

IMG_9814

Helpful when it snows.

IMG_9818

Representing our race.

IMG_9827

Home school end of the year party!

IMG_9834

And then, for the first 3 days of summer…..yeah.

IMG_9839

IMG_9856

Birthday party goodness.

IMG_9871

And extra sass.

IMG_9874

Finally, sunshine!

IMG_9902

We hosted a ride from our house last weekend (third year in a row). There were 28 riders who did 110 miles and 9k of climbing. I headed out into the middle of nowhere with drinks and food about 13 miles from the end (the last climb is rough). Had a little search party for a couple of guys. Another successful bike event/party!

IMG_9906

On Sunday, Errin, Colin and I met up with my friend Kelly for our own adventure ride! It was awesome and I ended up with 84 miles on the day (with a stop for beer and fries around 60 miles in!).

IMG_9913

Other than the normal craziness, those are the highlights of what has been happening!

Hope that you are having a great (slightly less crazy) summer!!

A Bike Race and a Vacation

Hi all! I have returned from falling off the face of the planet! The last couple weeks have been a whirlwind of house staining and a trip to Wyoming! Since the house staining is a never ending and not too exciting project, let’s talk more about the trip 😉

On Thursday (yeah, like way back on September 6th), we prepped to go on our trip. There was a lot of food prep! I love getting everything pre-ready so camp cooking is easy and I actually get to relax a bit. Pre-made breakfast burritos are always a favorite!

IMG_7104

Friday, we traveled up to Lander, Wyoming and found a place to park the trailer before heading to Ken’s pre-race meeting. Brooke asked me to take her picture. Should I be worried?

IMG_7107 (1)

Saturday was Ken’s race. It was 130 miles out in the middle of nowhere! They did not want cars on the course, so we spent the day going back and forth on some other roads to support Ken. We saw him twice and were happy to make it back to the finish to see him end his journey. He finished in eight hours and 11ish minutes and was the first person.

He was a perfect 3 for 3 in wins for the series and took home the overall finisher prize!

Brooke and I made sure to take a cuddle break before he finished.

IMG_7110

Winner!!

IMG_7114

Somehow he had the energy to play at the park with Brooke after the race. Not sure how 😉

IMG_1296

IMG_1301

On Sunday, I got out for about a 2 hour ride with lots of climbing. It was gorgeous!

IMG_7115 (1)

I met up with Ken, Brooke and Jasper and we explored Sinks State Park.

The water was freezing. Naturally, Ken went in.

IMG_1384IMG_1387IMG_1388IMG_1392

On our way out of the canyon, we saw a gorgeous, young Golden Retriever in the middle of the highway. We stopped and looked for tags and he didnt have any. Naturally, we put him in the car and drove around. We tried several houses but no one was home. Luckily, we found a local couple that was willing to keep him and find his owners (since we were leaving that night!). They were so sweet and we left him in good hands!

IMG_7116

We packed up camp and drove West towards Jackson. Spent the night in Turpin Meadows and made it to the Tetons the next morning!

After settling into camp, we loaded on to GrandBob and Nene’s boat and set out for an afternoon on the water!

IMG_7119

Perfect Fall boating attire 😉

IMG_7120

It was a bit hazy from smoke, but still gorgeous. Bald eagle, for the win!

It was pretty great!

We managed to get out on the boat on Wednesday morning before driving the 8 hours home. All the things!

While we were gone, Fall arrived.

IMG_7127

I did some volunteering at a 50/100 mile running race on Saturday.

IMG_7133

Did the Church thing on Sunday. Followed it up with some cookie baking (after some house staining of course 😉  ).

IMG_7140

PSA: Dont fight a shopping cart with 4 flats of water bottles. It will win.

IMG_7142 (1)

Been getting some workouts in! Six miles of running on Sunday, 3 this morning with weights after. Threshold ride on Saturday. Just training for life right now 🙂

Hope you are doing well and squeezing the last bit out of summertime!

Weekend in Fruita

Hi there! How’s it going?? Back to the Monday we go! Anyone else nursing a weekend hangover…and no I dont mean from drinking 😉

We had a pretty great weekend…full of lots of sunshine and our first intro back into “hot”!

On Friday, Brooke, Jasper and I met up with Ken after work and we hit the road for the desert! The drive there didnt look very convincing as we hit a good amount of snow?!

IMG_5563

IMG_5564

Say, what?!

Jasper takes it all in stride.

IMG_5565

We got to camp and climbed in the trailer and were quick to call it a night. It rained a bit overnight, but from there on out we were good!

The trip was a mini-camp for Ken to get in some good riding. I am currently tapering for a race this weekend, so I got to spend most of my time playing bikes around camp with Brooke!

We also did some hiking and such!

IMG_0717

IMG_0731

The views were incredible…as were the 70 something degree temps 🙂

Saturday morning, Ken went out on his mountain bike for about 2.5 hours while we played around camp. When he got back, we had some lunch and loaded into the truck. Ken and Brooke ventured to a dinosaur museum (which she did NOT like because it was really life-like). While they were in the pre-historic time, I set out for a 6 mile run….in shorts and a tank top. ha!

The run went well (7:59 average) on the pavement and I even saw a friend from Steamboat who was out riding his bike!! Such a small world. Since the museum was a bust, the husband and kiddo went to the bike park. It was a much bigger hit! Played there for a while before grabbing some ice cream and heading to Cabelas to explore.

Once we had enough shopping, Ken dropped us off at the most GIANT PARK EVER and he set out for his second 2+ hour ride of the day.

She was a bit tired afterwards 😉

IMG_5592

We made it back to camp and hung out a bit before Ken got back from his ride. Then it was DINNERTIME!! I pre-made a lasagna so all we had to do was heat it up. Luxury camping 😉

Everyone was exhausted so we were all quick to bed.

Sunday started out with a mountain bike ride for Ken. Brooke and I made some mud pies and enjoyed the sunshine!

IMG_5654

IMG_5655

This guy loves to camp!

IMG_5656

When Ken got back, I went out for just over an hour on my mountain bike! He sent me on some new to me trails and they were amazing!! Loving my new bike!!

IMG_5662

The views stayed awesome.

IMG_0738

IMG_5659

IMG_5661

Never enough desert for this guy!

IMG_0739

While I packed up the trailer, Ken got out for an hour of gravel road riding to conclude his weekend of riding! He did a good job of wearing himself out!

Once back, we loaded up and hit the road! We stopped at Costco because it was kind of on the way home. Got home around 8:30, put the kid to bed and relaxed a bit before calling it a night. It was a wonderful weekend together!

Today has been a Monday with a side of Monday 😉 Lots of unloading, unpacking and laundry….and your typical post-camping weekend blues. Luckily, it is just the beginning of the Spring/Summer season!

Hope you had a good one as well!!
