Fall Pictures and Race Plans

Hi there and happy Friday (night)!!

Two posts in one week! Dream big!

This post is mainly for my family who is excited to see Brooke’s Fall pictures….so if looking at a cute kid isn’t your thing…I will see you next week!

Since I am going to actually start training again, I thought it would be fun to start trying to get my workouts written down for each week.

Not really training for anything this Fall/Winter, but so far my plans next year include:

May- Belgian Wafer Ride: 68 mixed surface race on the bike-I am opting for the half since I didnt ride my bike this year. (Ken will be doing the full 140 mile race)

July-Crusher in the Tushar: 70 mile road/gravel race with a lot of climbing.

September-Run Rabbit Run: 50 mile trail running race.

Lots of moderately paced, long workouts in my future with a LOT of climbing….and so it begins! Since I barely rode or ran this Summer, there will be a lot of easy building this Fall and Winter so that I can start some actual efforts in the Spring.

Monday: 7 mile run @ 8:26 pace/ weights

Tuesday: 2 x 3 mile runs 1) 8:47 2) 9:27 paces

Wednesday: 3 miles 8:54 with 1.5 around threshold./ weights

Thursday: 45 minute spin am, 4 miles 8:40 ish pace

Friday: 3 miles easy ~9:00 pace/weights

Total: 23 miles

Aiming to get 6-7 this weeked to make it to 30 miles for the week.

And now for pictures….

Friday and Some Red Toes

Hi there and Happy Friday, Everyone!! Who is doing something exciting this weekend? We will be venturing to the Front Range for the Cyclocross State Championships. Not going to call what I will do racing (it has been a weird season and I have only made it to the start line 3 times). Some years you make it a thing, some years you just enjoy playing at home! I am planning to race (er, ride) in the Single Speed race. I just like to ride my bike 😉 and it is supposed to be in the 60s!! Who can pass that up?!

We have just been playing around the house for the past couple of days, so not too much excitement over here… but here are some things 🙂

Can you possibly get ANY closer to the fire?

Brooke is still obsessed with her dinos….

And making sure they have nice homes 😉

Just taking some toys out to play in the snow! Her eyes are killing me in this pic!

Caught my ride on the trainer…Yep, cold in the basement these days!

Over share and sorry for the polish…but part of life! I suffer from Raynaud’s Disease and while it is a “mild-ish” case, boy is it still painful! Pretty much, if my toes get too cold (ie…taking the wrong boots to cut a Christmas tree), a few days later some of my toes will end up super red and swollen. Fantastic, yeah?! They also itch (because the skin is stretched so tight), but it hurts to scratch them! Vicious cycle. Sure makes putting them in cycling shoes exciting.

Still wintering over here!! Though, the forecast is sunny and warmish…I need snow to SKIIIIII!!!!

Elf continues to pop around the house. I call this one a win!!

Getting ready to leave for the day and pre-heating the house…it is 80 degrees. Makes things a little sweaty!!

Anyone else following the Cali fires. My parents and brother and his family live there (not to mention a ton of friends).  Getting pictures like this has been terrifying!! We dealt with fire and evac scares this summer. About done with fire for the year!

Alright, time to load up the truck and head out! Hope you have an amazing weekend!!

Prepping for Winter

Howdy and happy short week!! Who is looking forward to some relaxing and overeating?? **Raises both hands** Okay, excited for some riding outside, too 😉 #balance

This weekend was on the low key side. Most of it was spent “winterproofing” our yard/shop/etc.

We picked up miscellaneous materials from around the yard, organized and covered our fire wood piles, put stakes around so as to not hit things with the snowblower….you know, the normal stuff! hahaha.

On Saturday, I worked around the inside of the house while it warmed up. Ken and I jumped on the trainers but he ended up having to bail early to help a neighbor, so I finished up the hour alone. Found this gem on RunEatRepeats Insta-story. I think ALL races (bikes and running) need this! Yes, I will go ahead and feel endless pride! Perfect.

Super fancy lunch of champions.

Then it was time to head outside. It wasnt quite 30 degrees, so the sexy clothes came out.

I should be sponsored by Carhartt, BOGS and Smartwool=>my life.

I mentioned to Ken that I was thinking about a triathlon (gasp) next summer. He informed me that there is a local DUATHLON. Running and biking and NO getting wet. SOLD!

After working, we all headed into the hot tub to warm up!

On Sunday, it was more of the same. Ken managed to get out on his bike, but from the looks of it when he got home, I opted for the trainer later. MUDDY.

Just another day of looking extra hot. Yikes.

It continued to the trainer as well. Maybe later this week I will brush my hair and/or put on make up. That could be a fun change!

More working outside and then dinner and falling asleep on the couch (or at least Ken did!).

This morning, the sunrise didnt disappoint.

Cant complain about this forecast either!!

I am taking some time to grade, do the laundry and work around the house. Naturally, Brooke chooses one room to destroy. Guess I will be cleaning that up later, too. Ugh.

We did some Thanksgiving crafts this morning and made dino fossils. The things the kid is thankful for….mostly dogs 😉

This guy has a weekend hangover.

About to hit up the trainer for a bit and then continue the normal Monday chores!

Hope you had a great weekend and have super fun plans this week!
