Change of the Plans

Hi Everyone! How was your week? Things were pretty quiet over here, save for lots of grading.

We had plans to go to the desert this weekend, but some things came up at work for the husband so we are hanging at home.

Highlights?

Monday night conference call. Oh so fun! πŸ˜‰ I was lucky in the fact that Ken made it home just as we were starting so I could pay attention (and actually participate!).

Not a bad view though!

Tuesday was filled with Library time, errand running, coffee getting, pool swimming and a trip to the grocery. The Easter orchids were on clearance….happily brought one home!

IMG_5459

Brooke’s dinner requests…perfect. Ken was doing the group ride and didnt get home until later so she ate before us.

IMG_5461

We had some super gorgeous weather this week….almost all of the snow melted from the yard. (Spoiler alert: Its back).

IMG_5465

We spent a good amount of time playing outside on Wednesday in the sunshine. Even wore out the pup!

IMG_5467

Thursday involved chores and packing up the trailer for the camping trip (that isn’t actually happening…had to unpack that this morning πŸ˜‰ ).

Around 2:00 we headed into town to run some errands before this girl had her first ice skating lesson!!

IMG_5469

On the trip into town, we came across a tree that had fallen across the road. It was super windy and this guy apparently couldnt hack it πŸ˜‰

Reaction:

Thankfully, we always have work gloves in the truck so I hopped out and moved 3/4 of the tree out of way. I could not budge the large piece but it was plenty for vehicles to pass through.

We made it with plenty of time to get our errands done before skating commenced!

IMG_5478

After 50 minutes she was both elated and absolutely exhausted! Loved it!

Since Ken had ridden to work in the morning, the plan was for us to pick him up around 5:30 (since it was a blizzard!). At 5:30 he suggested that we pick up dinner because he still had a bunch of work to finish up. We grabbed some of our fave BBQ and hung out and ate while he and his co-workerΒ  (J) kept working.

Brooke thought it was great and was highly entertaining. Though, she thought they made socks in the copy machine. Hmmmm.

This outfit…gah!

IMG_5481

This morning we woke up to a winter wonderland. I thought it was Spring?!!? πŸ˜‰

IMG_5482

Hit up the trainer for 45 minutes plus some weights and then got in a 3 mile easy run before lunch.

Jasper embodies my feelings 100%.

IMG_5491

And that’s where we stand this week! Not sure what the weekend will hold for us.

I have an 8 mile run tomorrow and Ken has some riding to do…but other than that….projects it is!

Hope you have a great weekend…with a little less snow πŸ˜‰

Into the Abyss

Hi Friends! How is your Monday treating you? Did you have a nice weekend? We are having some crazy weather around here….snow/rain…lots of slush and mud! Kind of gross outside to be honest.

We took advantage of the fact that it was snowing on Sunday and headed to the Resort for our last day of skiing (closing day is this coming weekend and we have no intention of braving that crowd).

Visibility was a bit, er, limited on the top.

IMG_5438

These two. My heart.

IMG_5439

It was some pretty great snow up top and some pretty heavy slush at the bottom.

IMG_5441

We were able to show Ken our fave porcupine who was still in his tree!!

Sent Ken up to do a couple of solo runs in the good snow while we played in the gondola. Just happened to get on the Smartwool sponsored “wool room”!

IMG_5442

IMG_5444

Ken made his last run end near the base and got the truck to move it closer so we didnt have to walk everything back with Brooke. #gamechanger

Since it was early and town was quiet, we popped into our fave Mexican restaurant for dinner! We were literally the only people there for the first 20 minutes or so! Winning for sure!

She can make any hat look good πŸ˜‰

IMG_5450

The rest of the afternoon included couches and the hot tub. And then some work on the couch.

This morning started off dark and early as Ken and I hopped on the trainers before 6 am. Time to get back into the habit until the weather lets us play outside some more!

Ken left for work and B and I got going on her school work. Some math, some letters and then her favorite, science. We made some fun slime and she went to town with her animals.

IMG_5454

She worked on abcmouse for a bit while I got in 4 miles on the treadmill. Working towards that race at the end of the month!

Now it is all chores, all afternoon! And then it is conference calls/dinner making and grading all evening. A total Monday πŸ˜‰

Any fun plans this week?? We have plans to venture into town for some fun and errands tomorrow. Hopefully the road will dry out a little πŸ˜‰

Random Midweek Road Trip and 12 Treadmill Miles.

Hi there! How is your weekend going? We are having a nice, lazy day over here! It is a nice change from the whirlwind week!

Let’s see….what’s been going on??

Tuesday evening ended with a 5 mile progression run with a 1 mile side of cool down. Six miles on a Tuesday so that I could ride my bike on Wednesday!! The good part about basement running…hello, shorts!

IMG_5367

On Wednesday, we were up early to pile into the truck to head to Boulder. Ken had to work down there for 2 days, so Brooke, Jasper and I hopped on the bandwagon.

After dropping Ken at work, we headed to Flatirons Mall. Brooke has been asking to do a Build-A-Bear for about a year and a half, so the timing worked and we made it happen. She had a BLAST and has not put the bear down since πŸ˜‰

IMG_5368

We ran a TON of errands around town before taking a break at one of her favorite “parks”.

IMG_5371

Once we had our fair share of shopping, we ventured to Valmont Bike Park for Brooke to work on her skills. She crushed it! Such a good time!

I can no longer keep up on foot.

Around 4:30, I met up with Errin and we got changed to ride Flagstaff (a super popular climb in Boulder…that I happen to LOVE). Ken took B at 5 when he finished working and E and I headed out to climb! It was everything. I did the climb once and then Errin did it a second time while I traded with Ken so he could do it twice. I was pretty excited with how the climb went since I have only climbed two other times this year. The legs were a bit sore and tired after the progression run the day before…but it was still great!

Colin rode down from Longmont and E and I (along with Brooke) headed over to meet him at BJ’s for dinner. We ordered for Ken and he finished his workout before meeting up just before dinner was served! It was super fun getting to hang out with E and C for the evening. It had been a while!

Post-meal, we made our way to our hotel (we stayed at the La Quinta in Louisville because it is dog friendly) and I was incredibly impressed with how clean it felt. I am not huge on hotels, but I felt comfortable. Calling that a win!

Thursday morning, we dropped Ken off at work before heading to Denver to hit up the zoo!

She pretty much ran everywhere.

The hippo playing with a ball was a huge highlight!

Crowd favorite.

IMG_5401

We even grabbed a pretzel!

IMG_5409

After about 3 hours, we had seen all the animals (including the baby sloth…swoon). We made our way back to the car and swung by Whole Foods to grab a few snacks for lunch. I asked B if she wanted to hit up any more stores, but she was shopped out from the day before. She begged to go back to Valmont and after 2.5 hours of riding and playing, this is how we both looked!

IMG_5419

Packed up and headed to Ken’s office and did some painting while we waited!

IMG_5421

Once he was done, we did a Costco run before hitting the road back home!

Friday morning, we all looked like this…

IMG_5423

Ken went to work and we hung around the house being lazy. Mostly. I moved over firewood (in the rain/snow) and then put together Brooke’s new shelves.

IMG_5424

Spent the evening relaxing in the hot tub before calling it an early night and heading to bed.

This morning, we woke up to this gem from Errin and Colin. Sooooo good!

IMG_5425 (1)

I would have had a second, but I had a 12 mile run on the books, so I stopped at 1. Ken had 2 πŸ˜‰

Unfortunately, the weather has been icky and our road was a total disaster. Treadmill time. Also unfortunate….our internet was down all morning so there was no movie/tv watching in the basement. Saddest day! Ken had plans to back country ski with friends, so I only had time in the morning to get my workout done. I ran 12 miles (fast finish) listening to music from Ken’s playlist on his computer….in no particular order…those slow songs were rough! Thankfully K and B came down to “workout” for a few minutes, so that was nice πŸ™‚

Ken is out playing so us girls have played princesses, trolls, crafted, taken a bath and now are finally relaxing on the couch. Exhausted!!

We have plans to ski tomorrow so we are hoping that the rain it is doing here means that it is snowing on the mountain! Fingers crossed!
