Last week started off pretty normal. The usual work and school with some snowy workouts.
On Tuesday, I took advantage of Brooke’s skate ski class to get in 9 miles of my own. The snow was delightful and I am finally starting to not feel totally awkward on them! I have zero complaints about the location-it is so beautiful (even when you are suffering π ).
Brooke wanted to go back out on Wednesday. She had me run through some of her practice drills. It was really fun. Maybe she just likes telling me what to do?
On Thursday, I opted for an easy trainer ride. It felt so funny being back on a bike saddle. Then it was a quick shower and time to pack up to head to the airport. Brooke and I flew to southern California for my sister’s baby shower. It also meant that I got a few workouts on dirt! So weird to be excited for dirt, but here we are.
All three of my runs in California included trails and it was great to get in some vert, too.
The weather was a bit chilly for much of the trip and there was some significant rain on Sunday morning, but it was sure nice to be in shorts!
After 20 miles (and over 2,600 feet of ascent) on Saturday morning, I headed straight for the hot tub! My brother-in-law delivered me a mimosa. It was quite a treat! Brooke spent a solid 2 hours swimming, so that was her workout.
Sunday included a beautiful baby shower for my sister and brother-in-law. We cant wait to meet their sweet baby girl in March π It was really lovely and I was able to see a lot of people that I had not seen in a long time! Also, I forgot what I looked like in non-workout clothes!
But dont you worry, as soon as pictures were done and the shower wrapped up-I changed into running clothes and ran back over the mountain home! 10 miles with 1500 feet of ascent. Many people thought I was crazy or kidding…but it was raining really hard that morning and I thought it was wiser to wait π It was a delightful workout and a great way to wrap up California workouts with a sunset.
On Monday, we visited Universal Studios. Brooke was looking forward to this and it didn’t disappoint! While many of the rides made me want to vomit, I took one for the team since Ken wasn’t there π She had a great time, but was seriously exhausted when we were done!
We traveled back yesterday and have enjoyed a lovely morning of catching back up on life. Brooke has a special skate ski clinic this evening, so Ken and are are also going to ski. Beats 5 easy miles on the treadmill π
I hope that you had a great week!
