Hi there! How is your weekend going? We are having a nice, lazy day over here! It is a nice change from the whirlwind week!
Let’s see….what’s been going on??
Tuesday evening ended with a 5 mile progression run with a 1 mile side of cool down. Six miles on a Tuesday so that I could ride my bike on Wednesday!! The good part about basement running…hello, shorts!
On Wednesday, we were up early to pile into the truck to head to Boulder. Ken had to work down there for 2 days, so Brooke, Jasper and I hopped on the bandwagon.
After dropping Ken at work, we headed to Flatirons Mall. Brooke has been asking to do a Build-A-Bear for about a year and a half, so the timing worked and we made it happen. She had a BLAST and has not put the bear down since π
We ran a TON of errands around town before taking a break at one of her favorite “parks”.
Once we had our fair share of shopping, we ventured to Valmont Bike Park for Brooke to work on her skills. She crushed it! Such a good time!
I can no longer keep up on foot.
Around 4:30, I met up with Errin and we got changed to ride Flagstaff (a super popular climb in Boulder…that I happen to LOVE). Ken took B at 5 when he finished working and E and I headed out to climb! It was everything. I did the climb once and then Errin did it a second time while I traded with Ken so he could do it twice. I was pretty excited with how the climb went since I have only climbed two other times this year. The legs were a bit sore and tired after the progression run the day before…but it was still great!
Colin rode down from Longmont and E and I (along with Brooke) headed over to meet him at BJ’s for dinner. We ordered for Ken and he finished his workout before meeting up just before dinner was served! It was super fun getting to hang out with E and C for the evening. It had been a while!
Post-meal, we made our way to our hotel (we stayed at the La Quinta in Louisville because it is dog friendly) and I was incredibly impressed with how clean it felt. I am not huge on hotels, but I felt comfortable. Calling that a win!
Thursday morning, we dropped Ken off at work before heading to Denver to hit up the zoo!
She pretty much ran everywhere.
The hippo playing with a ball was a huge highlight!
Crowd favorite.
We even grabbed a pretzel!
After about 3 hours, we had seen all the animals (including the baby sloth…swoon). We made our way back to the car and swung by Whole Foods to grab a few snacks for lunch. I asked B if she wanted to hit up any more stores, but she was shopped out from the day before. She begged to go back to Valmont and after 2.5 hours of riding and playing, this is how we both looked!
Packed up and headed to Ken’s office and did some painting while we waited!
Once he was done, we did a Costco run before hitting the road back home!
Friday morning, we all looked like this…
Ken went to work and we hung around the house being lazy. Mostly. I moved over firewood (in the rain/snow) and then put together Brooke’s new shelves.
Spent the evening relaxing in the hot tub before calling it an early night and heading to bed.
This morning, we woke up to this gem from Errin and Colin. Sooooo good!
I would have had a second, but I had a 12 mile run on the books, so I stopped at 1. Ken had 2 π
Unfortunately, the weather has been icky and our road was a total disaster. Treadmill time. Also unfortunate….our internet was down all morning so there was no movie/tv watching in the basement. Saddest day! Ken had plans to back country ski with friends, so I only had time in the morning to get my workout done. I ran 12 miles (fast finish) listening to music from Ken’s playlist on his computer….in no particular order…those slow songs were rough! Thankfully K and B came down to “workout” for a few minutes, so that was nice π
Ken is out playing so us girls have played princesses, trolls, crafted, taken a bath and now are finally relaxing on the couch. Exhausted!!
We have plans to ski tomorrow so we are hoping that the rain it is doing here means that it is snowing on the mountain! Fingers crossed!
