Nine Years…Wowza.


Howdy, friends! How is your week? Ours has been different than usual as we have a little trip coming up. But let’s talk about what has been going on, shall we?

On Tuesday, the fridge looked like this…


Clearly a trip to the grocery was in order. Since we were going to be in town, Brooke and I swung by the pool for a quick swim before heading to City Market. (There is a bit more food in there now, but not much…dont want things to spoil!).

When we got home from our errands, I hit up the trainer for about an hour. Taking this style thing to the next level ;). What can I say, the knee likes to be warm and I didnt want to do extra laundry before the trip!


Ken was planning to take a rest day, but I told him that if he didnt get out for at least a little while, he was silly. He went out for 55 minutes on his bike and loved every warm (relative, right?) minute. (I sent him this to encourage his ride, hahahah)


While he was riding, Brooke was dressing me up. Dang, girl.


Random, we gave this book to my father-in-law and then I just had a friend post this on Instagram. Guess it is pretty good!


Yesterday (Wednesday) was my and Ken’s NINE year anniversary. I have no idea how 9 years have gone by. We have known each other for about 21 years, I am not sure if that makes the 9 feel longer or shorter.

In true wintery fashion, I stomped out “Happy Anniversary” in the snow in our yard. I spelled anniversary from y->a. Be impressed. PS that takes up a large amount of the yard. It took some work!


Spent most of the day packing and cleaning, with a side of a 4 mile treadmill run and a dip in the hot tub with the kid (we went in while it was sunny out and it was HOT).

When Ken got home, we chilled and grilled (and had a delicious dinner). Got to hang out for a bit before he went out to finish some garage projects.

Today, we are in packing mode. All the things! Took a break this morning to throw together some macaroons for the road. Yes, please. Road trip=snacks have no calories.


It was my first time ever using the “dry mixer” with the vitamix to make the coconut flakes a bit smaller. It is kind of thebombdotcom.


With weather like this today, it has been easy to stay inside! We have seen rain and snow and wind, oh my!


Took a 45 minute spin on the trainer before doing 20 minutes of Cosmic Kids Yoga with Brooke.

This outfit though….Went straight from bike shorts to….


Yoga shorts.


Yes, it is 78 degrees in my house!

The rest of the day includes finishing touches on packing. Good times!

Monday Meanderings

Hi there! How was your weekend? Are you making it through your Monday? Daylight Savings has got me like zzzZZZZzzzz. Ready for bed already 😉

We had a pretty fun weekend over here, but before I dive into that, here are two random things for you!

For dinner on Friday, I made this…..


It was absolutely delicious! I am not the biggest fan of cooking and this was pretty much a perfect recipe (super easy!!). Ken was a big fan and it will find its way onto our table again.

Another random…I have had this violet since before B was born. It went through a phase where it didnt bloom and then BAM. I think it likes where it is living!


Brooke was still rocking her cold on Saturday, so we spent most of the day cuddling and watching movies. Ken was out early and headed up to Little Agnes with friends to snowmobile and ski some powder!


While he was out, I got in 5 miles on the treadmill. Felt the knee, but no real pain. Fingers crossed. Once he was home, Jasper needed to get out so I put on my skinny skis and we went for about 1.8 miles. The snow wasnt great, too crusty on top and that made descending pretty sketchy!! The view was okay, though 😉


Ken got my new mountain bike ride-ready and I went out for about 5 miles just to try it out. Pics to come. I am in love.

On Sunday, Brooke was feeling a lot better and had pretty much stopped coughing. Win!! Since Ken was planning to meet friends for a ride, I went out on my new mountain bike at the *new* 8:50 am (so really it was the temperature of 7:50 am…18 degrees to start). It was pretty chilly but I was having such a good time with my bike that I was out for just over an hour. My toes were frozen when I made it home 😉

Ken set out around 10:20 am and rode into town. Met up with a friend and then some other friends and eventually met up with us to drop off his bike at work. Just under 50 miles for him! He ate lunch and I drove us over to the resort for some skiing (we like to fit as many things into a weekend as possible!)

It was Brooke’s (and mine-in this one) first time in the gondola and she thought it was just great!


We had an absolute blast skiing until the lifts shut down. Brooke did fantastic and skied a bunch of runs that she hadnt been able to a couple of weeks ago. It is amazing how fast they progress!

A quick change of clothes and pulling hair out of braids and we were ready to head to dinner at Low’s (a Southern style restaurant). We are celebrating 9 years of marriage on Wednesday (though we have known each other for about 21 years?!).

Not bad for helmet hair 😉


After a delicious dinner, we headed home for some hot tub time before I worked on Ken’s legs and then we headed straight to bed!

This morning, we opted to skip the trainer ride (no thanks to that time change business…would have felt like 4…).

Instead, Brooke and I have been working on chores and cleaning up. Jasper is literally beckoning Spring to show up.


Ken managed to sneak out for a fat bike ride and I went out for a 3 mile jog. No knee brace. Felt the knee on the edge so I went easy and was super cautious. Came home to an ice pack. Please knock it off, knee!


Time to finish up B’s bath and get some dinner prep going. We have a strange week over here and I have a ton of grading to do! Hope you are recovering from the time change…I will take that hour of daylight in the evening, though 😉

Last Day of Ski Lessons and Hoping My Knee Cooperates with Life.

Happy Friday, Everyone!! Who is doing something fun this weekend?? Hot date? Long run? Sleeping until noon?

We had some plans (well, Ken still does), but Brooke woke up with a cold this morning, so we will play that by ear. Ken is headed out to ski with friends tomorrow morning and then to possibly ride with friends on Sunday. I feel like there is a lot of cuddling and chilling happening for the rest of us.

Let’s flashback to Wednesday! It was Brooke’s last day of ski lessons for the season (though she is really excited to ski with Ken and I until the snow leaves us).


Ken got to sneak away from work (lunchtime!) to watch her “performance”. It was really awesome to see how much she has improved in 10 weeks.

Spent most of the night grading….as well as every other night this week.

Since the knee is still on the mend, I have been riding instead. Making sure to keep the knee warm with my ’80s style leg warmers. Always a win.

Most of Thursday was spent doing chores and playing outside in the sunshine. Look at this weather love!


Starting to look like Spring and we are not sad about it.

This morning was spent on the trainers. I made it 45 minutes before hopping off to make breakfast. Brooke has been resting most of the day (and apparently that means playdoh and ballet performances to a 4 year old).

I had some things to go to the mailbox, so I decided to try out an easy jog. Made it down and the knee was okay, so I continued on for the rest of a mile. Turned around and finished at home for 2 miles. Dream big. I was conservative with every part of the “run” and ended up with a 9:30ish pace. Really worked on my gait for the whole thing. Still not sure what started the knee issue, so I am being very careful starting up again.

Just dressed like the most non-runner ever. Baggy pants and a cotton t-shirt. So much no…but it was more of a “jog” than a “run”, right? 😉



No big plans over here for the afternoon. Working on a training plan for Ken while giving Brooke all the snacks.
