Fit After Little Bits

eat right..work hard..play harder

Ski, Run, Bike

on January 16, 2018

It’s Monday! Everyone recovered from a weekend of playing?? In the midst of these silly colds, we managed to enjoy some quality play time over here.

On Saturday, I had a goal to get in 4 miles of running….I made it to 4 and when I got home the dog BEGGED to go out for a bit with me, so I was able to get in an extra mile for a total of 5! Bam! Then we spent the rest of the day in the hot tub….kidding. Kind of. We were able to watch the Cyclocross National Single Speed races first πŸ˜‰ So fun seeing our friends on the YouTube feed!

Sunday morning, we opted to take a slow start to the day. Since we didnt want to share our germs, we decided to skip church.

Once we felt up to activity (you know…when the caffeine kicked in), we got in the truck and headed into town to go skiing. We headed to Howelsen Hill where they have free skiing on Sundays so we could play with Brooke on the magic carpet. Being outside meant that we wouldnt be in anyone’s face and spread our sniffles!

It was pretty much the perfect day to be outside.

Not sure what we are doing….

But seriously, though….the views!

Frosty!

Dressed and ready to go! Kid crushed it! It was my first time on downhill skis in about 6 years. Like riding a bike….right?

My two favorites.

Tongue out=focused.

Cant get enough.

The magic carpet may be the strangest thing I have ever experienced….

Ken sent me over to do a run off the T-bar…um, I thought the magic carpet was strange. I wasn’t quite sure I was going to make it up the T-bar….it was a workout and a sketchy one at that. Only a black diamond down from there…no problem. :/ Managed to keep it upright but was happy to be back to the bunny hill. hahahaha.

Once we were all ready for some lunch, we packed up and headed home. We made it just in time to watch the U23 men and then the elite Cyclocross races!

I kind of lucked out in that there was a 30 minute break between the men’s and women’s races and I got out for my LAST 3.1 miles!! DONE and DUSTED!

My body was pretty excited to get a break from running today πŸ˜‰

This morning, Ken and I got up at 5:45 and rode the trainers! It had been over a month since I had been on my bike and it felt great….okay, not great…my legs are thrashed from the last 2 weeks, but it felt good to be on the bike again!

I even showered and dried my hair (well, a little bit).

The day was spent cleaning up after the weekend and doing the usual Monday chores. Around noon, it was time to register the husband for the Steamboat Stinger! He will be doing the full race this year and I will be doing the race as a duo with my sister-in-law, Errin!

Errin sent me this gem….I am famous!!

This was getting near the end of the trail marathon last year (the day after the full mountain bike race and I was DONE!). Super excited to make it on their website!

Check it out here…Β https://www.honeystinger.com/steamboat-stinger and sign up to race πŸ˜‰

That’s about it for us! Cant believe the summer race season is already filling up. Excited for the fun that awaits us this year! Outside is awesome!

Do you plan to bike/run the steamboat stinger again this year? I wish I could, it looks AWESOME. I would struggle with the bike ride though. I don’t bike much besides spin class. lol

Hi Lindsay! I am signed up for the Stinger Duo with my sister-in-law. Just riding half of it this year! I am planning on doing a duathlon on Sunday! It is at Catamount (run/bike/run). Sounds so fun and I dont have to swim! πŸ˜‰

I honestly wish there were more races where you could just run and bike … yes, I can swim BUT I hate the cold of the pool. Just ran a half in Melbourne, Florida this morning so no more races for me for a few weeks! Hope you have fun at the duathlon!!

Totally feel ya on the cold water. No thanks!! How fun! Did your half go well?? Coolish weather?

Unfortunately or fortunately depending on how I look at it … it was unseasonably warm in Melbourne, FL on Sunday when I ran the race. I am very glad that I wasn’t running the full marathon because I probably would have passed out. Fortunately I planned to run the half and reset my goals after a short warm up and when I finished in 1:41 and 2nd in my age group I was pleasantly surprised!! πŸ™‚
