Slowly, but Surely

Howdy and happy Monday! Is that a thing? It is about 3 pm here, so I guess that means it is almost over? That’s happy!

I hope that you had a fantastic weekend full of fun. Ours was filled with some workouts, family fun time and so serious building.

But let’s rewind….

Friday

When 2:30 rolled around, Brooke, Jasper and I loaded up into the car and headed to pick up the husband. Love the fact that the office closes at 3 on Fridays in the summer. He isn’t always done at 3, but it is nice that there is the option to leave if he is!

They dropped be off at Mad Creek for some mountain biking.

I took a picture of the map, but still struggled to find the correct trails. I was trying to link to the Red Dirt side, but there are no trail markers and I just missed the right one. I did however end up with 21 miles of riding for the evening and got to work on my (lack of) skills!

Saturday

Ken started the day off with a 4 hour (70+ mile) road ride. Brooke and I chilled around the house cleaning up and playing while he was out. Once home, we smoothie(d) it up before getting to work on building Brooke’s playground!

Around 3:30, I decided I needed to get in a workout as well. Since I am trying to become better acquainted with my mountain bike, I hopped on that and headed up over the hill behind our house. I was only mostly afraid the whole time of being eaten by a mountain lion or bear. Luckily, I didnt see any animals (besides rodents and birds). You better believe that I was carrying my bear spray!

It was a pretty tough ride with over 1600 feet of climbing in about 6 miles (total of around 12 miles with the descent).

The view didn’t stink though!

Brooke and Ken came to check on me on the quad. Much appreciated!

Sunday

As usual, we started out with church! Ken was sweet and loaded up the paddle boards (and the dog) before we left the house, so once we had finished at church, we headed up to Pearl Lake.

Since I was trying to get in a run (was aiming for 10, but that didn’t quite happen), Ken dropped me off at the turnoff for the lake. This gave me about 2 miles to warm up before hitting the trail. I had never ran at Pearl Lake, so we thought there was a trail that went around the lake. Whelp…I tried. I even did an out and back into the forest. It was gorgeous and a good climb (and descent). After the out and back, I tried to continue around the lake, but after wading through water and wishing I had a chainsaw to cut some trees and bushes, I gave up and head back the way I came.

Just over 6.5 miles with some good technical sections. I will take it!

Met up with the fam and we headed out onto the water! Ken took the kiddo on his board and Jasper came with me. We got in a nice 2.5 miles of paddling and water playing! It was amazing!

Once home, we got back to work on the playground (estimated build time on the thing is 30 hours-we are probably 10 in or so. Awesome).

Monday

And welcome to the present! Today hasn’t been super exciting. I have spent most of the day working on the playground in between working inside and doing the typical Monday things.

Progress!! There is a kitchen inside that front room that took me most of the day. The 4 year old helper makes things go extra fast, as you can imagine πŸ˜‰

Hoping to get a run in this afternoon. It is in the 80s which feels like 100 in the sun. Dramatic much? Thinking that I will try to get out around 4:30 for a short run and then get up early tomorrow to ride!

Fun filled evening of grading on the schedule for tonight. Be jealous πŸ˜‰
