Friday Favorites

Happy Friday!! Who is excited for the weekend? Since it is Ken’s first full week back at work, we have been missing him a lot this week. Pretty excited to see his face a bit more the next couple of days!

This morning, we were up early for some riding. I was inside on the trainer for an easy 45 minutes while Ken ventured out into the dark and came home with stories of new snow, cows and elk. Good times here in Hayden!

We are actually heading down to the Denver area tomorrow (after hopefully getting out for some snow riding first). We have an awards ceremony to attend for Ken and we are pretty excited to hang with E and C for a couple of days. Brooke has been talking about it all week.

But first…here are some faves for the week…

Nothing says “you have moved to the mountians” like some sweet wool clothing. Luckily, Ken gets to call that work now and we ended up with some sweet attire! Seriously in love with all of it! That hat…I wear it in the house! How is it so soft?! Welcome to my new uniform πŸ˜‰

Trainer time

Okay, this one is a love/hate (and there is now a TV on that stand). Being on the trainer is FAR from my favorite thing…in fact, it is no secret that I dont like it in the least…BUT when there is no other option, it is a great way to get in an early morning workout. Cant really leave the B home while I go ride πŸ˜‰

Views like this…

Each afternoon, Brooke, Jasper and I have been able to get out on the snow path for a couple of miles of walking (more like trudging through the snow). We all love getting out…and it is simply gorgeous!!

Have a stellar weekend!! See ya next week πŸ™‚

Pearl Izumi Champion Team

Last November, I noticed that Pearl Izumi was taking applications for a cycling ambassador team. I was quite familiar with their run team, but didnt know that were jumping into the cycling realm. To say I was excited would be putting it lightly. First and foremost, I LOVE the culture that PI brings to the table. They are just serious enough, but make sure that fun and love of the sport are even more important. I have friends who have and do work for Pearl and they love(ed) it. It is possible that I also already have a thing for their products…any given ride, I am sporting at least 2-3 articles of Pearl gear…my fave being my mountain/cross shoes-I ride in them about 95% of the year (when I am not in my snow booties or racing a hill climb).

Love my Pearl shoes….even when I cant see them!

After filling out the application I waited impatiently for them to announce the team. A couple of weeks ago, I got the most amazing email (so did my sister in law!!!) saying “Welcome to the team!” EEEEEEKKKKKKK.

It is so exciting to be a part of a family that goes from one side of the nation to the next! We have teammates in California, Colorado, Illinois, New York and every where in between. It has been so neat to see the pictures they are posting on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter (see #ride365 Β and #endureandenjoy ). People are getting out in all sorts of weather and doing all sorts of things on and off of the bike!IMG_8209

Equally as exciting, they are sending us kits to ride and race in! And…they are adorable!! Pretty much cant wait to check the mail in early March….though, I may be riding in my kit on the trainer or under my snow clothes still!

I feel so blessed to represent Pearl Izumi and to meet some of the other reps as well. Look for us in our red Pearl kits this Spring πŸ™‚

A little Yoga in my Life

So…we all know that I have a thing for bikes…and running…and paddle boarding…okay, most every sort of outdoor physical activity…but what I am not good about is stretching. Eeek. I know. (Hangs head in shame).

At the end of last year, I was gifted with a free month of yoga at Corepower. I had been a couple of times before when I took advantage of their “your first week is free to try us out” plan. Let’s put it this way, the first week is free, but you only go twice because you cant move for days in between. Okay, I kid…but not really.

To say that I was excited about this endeavor was an understatement. Flexibility=much needed in my world! I have Β a 2.5 year old I have to chase and lift while in all sorts of positions! I knew that I would not be able to use my whole month because we were moving and there is not a Corepower in Steamboat….so, I fit in as much as I could in my 3 weeks!

Because we were in the midst of crazy packing, the only time I could justify escaping for a workout was from 6-7 am. Ooomph. 5:30 alarm, anyone?

I cannot tell you how much I loved it and how much it was worth those early wake up calls! After the first 2 classes, my body finally started to get the hang of it. The timing meant that I was taking Corepower 2 (a flow class) and YogaSculpt (oh my workout) throughout the week…1 week, I took 3 sculpt and 1 C2 class in 4 days. Hello, biceps.

After my 3 weeks (hoping to sneak in a class this weekend while we are down on the front range), I so want to keep yoga as part of my normal weekly routine. Right now, my schedule and location isnt one that allows for going to classes, so I am taking advantage of my own flow practice…complete with a kiddo and using free online resources.

Take away…try it! If you are in the Broomfield, CO area, check out Alli’s class on Tuesday mornings at 6. Killer. Or look up Mollie C through out the locations! I promise, you will thank me later! Things to remember: take extra clothes for after…you will be drenched, water bottles for class are a must and dont overdress!
